Prophet Yaqub (Jacob) tells his sons to take precaution but then again he surely knows that:
12:67 wamaa ugnee 'ankum min-allaahi min shay
..."and I cannot avail you against Allah at all,
inil-hukmu illaa lillaah, 'alayhi tawakkaltu
verily, the decision rests only with Allah, in Him I put my trust"...
12:68 maa kaana yugnee 'anhum min-allaahi min shay
...it did not avail them in the least against (the Will of) Allah
illaa haajatan fee nafsi ya'quuba qadaahaa
it was but a need of Yaqub's inner-self which he discharged...
In the short run, it hadn't availed Yaqub; his fears had come true.
May our Lord protect us from the evil of what we fear and from the evil of our nafs (ego, inner-self).
